Minuit Announce Reunion Tour of Aotearoa New Zealand

Minuit Announce Reunion Tour of Aotearoa New Zealand

Chris Cudby / Wednesday 9th April, 2025 10:01AM

Emerging from Nelson in the late '90s with their own prescient blend of vocals-led, beat-driven electronica, Minuit (minwee) tore up dance floors all across the globe during before calling it a day in the mid-'10s. Dropping tantalising news of a comeback earlier this year, founding members Ruth Carr, Paul Dodge and Ryan Beehre today thrill fans with the announcement Minuit are reuniting for a triple date nationwide tour. They've locked in an appearance at Ōtautahi Christchurch's Go Live Festival in mid-August, to be followed by headline ragers at Pōneke Wellington's Meow and Tāmaki Makaurau's Double Whammy.

Incredibly productive during their first era, Minuit's recorded oeuvre sports seven albums, including 2003's breakout The 88, 2006's The Guards Themselves (sporting standout single 'Fiji') and 2009's Find Me Before I Die A Lonely Death.com featuring their hit 'Aotearoa'. Get up to speed with Amanda Mills' info-packed profile of the trio for AudioCulture HERE and make a long-awaited date with Minuit — tour details below...

Press release:

This announcement makes us very happy because we thought it might never happen – ‘the Kiwi band with the French name’ are back together for a series of reunion shows.

Minuit (minwee) became a must-see live act through the 2000s. Fronted by the enigmatic Ruth Carr, her coy persona ignites while bandmates Ryan Beehre and Paul Dodge forge rib-rattling beats around her.

Their debut album, The 88, released in 2003, achieved gold status in New Zealand. Over the following decade, the trio toured their synths and samplers from Helsinki to Hanoi crafting their own refreshing sound – storming The Crystal Method's club night in LA, the FabricLive birthday bash in London, and headlining the Hanoi Music Festival in Vietnam.

Rolling Stone magazine later described them as, "despite an album title as dark as midnight, Minuit's music is often as joyful as a fat kid with cake."

Having been retired since 2014, we’re excited to announce that Minuit are back onstage for a limited number of reunion shows.

These performances will pay tribute to classic tunes from all four albums 'The Boy with the Aubergine Hair', 'Except You', 'Fuji', 'Menace', ‘Aotearoa’, ‘I Hate Guns’, ‘A Room Full of Cute’, ‘25 Bucks’ – everything gets a look in, plus a couple of other surprises.

Minuit has a heart. And it beats loud. Real loud. This is a live show that you don't want to miss.
