Minuit: A Reunion Of Shows.
This announcement makes us very happy because we thought it might never happen – ‘the Kiwi band with the French name’ are back together for a series of reunion shows.
Minuit (minwee) became a must-see live act through the 2000s. Fronted by the enigmatic Ruth Carr, her coy persona ignites while bandmates Ryan Beehre and Paul Dodge forge rib-rattling beats around her.
Their debut album, The 88, released in 2003, achieved gold status in New Zealand. Over the following decade, the trio toured their synths and samplers from Helsinki to Hanoi crafting their own refreshing sound – storming The Crystal Method's club night in LA, the FabricLive birthday bash in London, and headlining the Hanoi Music Festival in Vietnam.
Rolling Stone magazine later described them as, \\\\despite an album title as dark as midnight, Minuit's music is often as joyful as a fat kid with cake.\\\\
Having been retired since 2014, we’re excited to announce that Minuit are back onstage for a limited number of reunion shows.
Singer, Ruth, describes the gigs as: \\\\a chance to dance, laugh and sing (in my case, often the wrong words), together live one last time.\\\\
These performances will pay tribute to classic tunes from all four albums 'The Boy with the Aubergine Hair', 'Except You', 'Fuji', 'Menace', ‘Aotearoa’, ‘I Hate Guns’, ‘A Room Full of Cute’, ‘25 Bucks’ – everything gets a look in, plus a couple of other surprises.
Minuit has a heart. And it beats loud. Real loud. This is a live show that you don't want to miss.
