Spotlight: 2MANYDJS (Soulwax) - Wellington Headline Show

2MANYDJS is the DJ project of Belgian brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, returning to Aotearoa to set fire to local dancefloors this summer. The duo are globally revered for their genre-smashing production work as Soulwax (aka their electronic band with Igor and Laima Cavalera, and Stefaan Van Leuven) — who have remixed such significant figures as Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Fontaines D.C., Peggy Gou, Charlotte Gainsbourg and many more — as well as their influential Radio Soulwax series (which has evolved into an app), Despacio sound system co-founded with James Murphy, and boutique imprint DEEWEE (releasing artists including Marie Davidson).

Any one of these aspects to their musical practice would be a notable achievement in its own right, when taken together a kaleidoscopic commitment to club culture is revealed, spanning thirty years of innovative releases, live performances and related projects. Wellington party-goers will be treated to a very special 2MANYDJS headline DJ set at Shed 6 on Friday 28th February, while Auckland fans need not despair as they'll also be spinning tunes at Gardens Music Festival the following night. 2MANYDJS swept international dancefloors into delirium, gifting a rock ‘n roll attitude to club culture. From politically incorrect prog-rock to funky r&b, from trendy hiptrop to banging German techno, ja: if it gets a booty going, the Dewaele brothers have it in their record collection. Since 1995, David and Stephen Dewaele aka 2MANYDJS have consistently pushed the boundaries of music into new and innovative territory by diversifying into many different guises. They are a band (Soulwax), djs (2manydjs), a record label (DEEWEE), a sound system (Despacio) and even created an app and website (Radio Soulwax).
