Following the rapid-fire release of ‘Far House’ and ‘Professional’ earlier this year, Tāmaki Makaurau songwriter Tom Verberne has released his third single of 2023 ‘Sit In The Back’. The final tune to be revealed from his upcoming fourth album Don’t Walk, ‘Sit In The Back’ contrasts crashing guitar with clean, spacey vocals, intentionally echoing the explosive guitar-driven sound of the artist's early emo inspirations. Shot in monochrome, the accompanying clip shows the artist and his band thrashing it out amidst the concrete pillars of Tāmaki Makaurau’s waterfront Silo Park. Maintaining a prolific output since his debut album All Kinds Of Red in 2018, Verberne will soon be supporting Mallrat's June shows ahead of showcase events in the US. Writing it took me back to when I was 13 and going through my emo phase, listening to bands like Paramore all day — you can definitely hear those early influences in it!”
