Listen To Mice On Stilts' Frontman Benjamin Morley Cover Aldous Harding's 'Horizon'
Mice On Stilts guitarist and vocalist Benjamin Morley has unveiled a beautiful cover of Aldous Harding's gut-wrenching single 'Horizon' as part of a wider solo project. Releasing simply under his first name for this venture, the Auckland-based musician self recorded, produced and mastered the song, which takes on a slightly different life from the piano-driven original with the addition of delicate synthlines and folk-style guitar work. Writing about the song on his Bandcamp page, Benjamin explained his decision to cover the song...
"I remember when I was living in Mt Eden hearing this song for the first time. Struggling with addiction at the time, I just broke down while my friend held me. A bleak era, but this song has had a profound impact on me.
"I have the utmost respect for Aldous, her songs, her performances and her general attitude. The original version is unique, I haven't heard anything like it before. So, I wanted to re-imagine it in a more generic sense."
The recording is destined to be part of an EP from that will see Benjamin cover songs from all local female artists. Keep your eyes peeled for that, and in the meantime soak this up...
