Known for their unique synth-driven grooves, chaotic builds and massive soundscapes, Grains have emerged as one of Pōneke’s most impactful and elusive alt-electronica acts. Sowed in 2019 as an ambient sound project of synth kids Peregrin Hyde and Calum Turner, the pair worked in co-op mode on a number of ambient music explorations, experimenting with multisensory, location and field-recording based compositions. After some early releases, they teamed up with their friends Jared Reynolds, Jed Prickett and Fredd Marshall to form a 5-piece live ensemble, retaining much of their signature synth-duo sound, but dialing it up to maximum crunch.
BADTAB:
BADTAB is the New Zealand based neo-psychedelic project of multi-instrumentalists Ethan Downing, Hamish Mckinley, Manaaki Tibble, Kahukuranui Hunter-Brown and Louis Nixon.
Weaving kaleidoscopic synthesizers and swirling guitar strums with rock and jazz inspired drum beats, BADTAB creates a unique and refreshing sound.
