Pianist Lucas Kewell returns to Aotearoa, bringing with him a few musical companions from his time studying in Switzerland, and reconnecting with familiar faces from home. Joining him are Hungarian drummer Zoltan Fekete and Slovenian vocalist Neža Ozinger, alongside local talents Toby Barrett on saxophone and bassist Tyler Diprose.
Together, they've embarked on a North Island tour, weaving jazz with threads of contemporary classical and cinematic soundscapes. Their music seeks to paint vivid imagery and tell stories, often reflecting on themes of the human experience.
Lucas has spent the past two years studying in Basel under the guidance of renowned pianists such as Shai Maestro, Malcolm Braff, Aaron Parks, Kit Downes, and Kris Davis.
This group is a meeting of kindred spirits, because at its heart, music is always about the people you share it with.
