The Bitter Brothers are a five-piece, Wellington based, southern gothic, old-time, alt-folk, alt-country musical experience that you won’t want to miss. They have banjos, accordions, violence, or rather violins, various guitars and voices, upright basses, drums, percussions, and delightfully unexpected arrangements, tempos, and smile-inducing harmonies. The Bitter Brothers bring it all and invite you along for the ride!
With the recent release of their debut album Daddy Was An Outlaw, the Bitter Brothers have been busy dusting off their boots and polishing their instruments, getting ready to take their show on the road for a tour of New Zealand’s North Island. Starting in their home grounds of Wellington at the Wellington Bluegrass Society on March 7th, they will wind their way around from Hastings to Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Hamilton, and Auckland, and back home again through this April and May.
More than a collection of singles, Daddy Was An Outlaw is a proper album, meant to be heard from beginning to end, taking you on a journey through the hearts and minds and narrative tales of this Bitter Brothers family. Daddy Was An Outlaw is available for a listen on Spotify, as well as all of your favourite alternative streaming outlets from January 22nd, 2025. And if you would rather own a real, physical piece of their country musical joy, come on down to one of their shows and snatch up one of their CDs, or one of their vinyl albums.
