Presented by the Tasman Bay Blues Club.
The Chris Armour Trio
Drawing from the deep well of American roots music, the Chris Armour Trio offers up a dynamic and incendiary set of guitar driven vintage electric blues, which flirts with elements of soul, funk and rockabilly. Chris is a visceral and studied fresh voice within the blues landscape of Aotearoa, who is heavily inspired by blues giants such as B.B King, Albert King, Freddie King and Peter Green.
Armour's trio is completed by two of the most in demand musicians in the country, Paul Mouncey on bass, and Thomas Friggens drums. The night promises a special appearance from Wellingtons icon vocalist Matthew Pender, who will feature on a tune, or two with the Trio.
Called an executioner of a guitarist (Peter Marinus, Blues Magazine NL) with terrific skills and impeccable taste (Nick Bollinger, The Sampler RNZ), the Pōneke-based guitarist is oft found playing for NZ artists such as Miles Calder, Wayne Mason, Oscar LaDell & OdESSA, and has several releases under his own name.
