Shez Raja – New Zealand tour
All the way from London UK, dynamic bass player Shez Raja performs tracks from his acclaimed third album Mystic Radikal (which features international jazz stars Andy Sheppard and Claude Deppa). Expect exciting music that evokes all of the emotions - a mix of euphoric jazz, thundering funk, lyrical ballads and intoxicating grooves. The New Zealand dates, which include Auckland’s Mission Bay Jazz Festival form part of a world tour which takes in gigs and festivals across Europe, Russia and the USA. The live show is an eclectic headcharge of raw energy and always leaves audiences uplifted, inspired and asking for more! The stellar NZ touring line-up features; soul/jazz/hiphop pianist and producer Timothy William, .Tauranga National Jazz Festival’s ‘Best Young Jazz Musician of the Year’; Pascal Roggen on Violin and Steven Webster on Kit.
As reviewer George Mitton noted at All About Jazz: Mystic Radikal is an exciting mixture thats all the more enjoyable because the constituent elements never seem forced or unnatural in combination.
Its a melting pot, but without the political connotations of cultural friction. This is fusion music at its most straightforward and entertaining.
