Big Day Out May Change Venue, 'Will Stay in NZ'
Monday 20th June, 2011 9:23AM
Following ongoing speculation, Big Day Out organisers have confirmed that the festival may move from its home, Mt Smart Stadium, for the 2012 event but state the festival will remain in New Zealand.
In a statement on Saturday, CRS Management - the festival's organisers - had this to say: “Leaving New Zealand or Auckland is the last thing Big Day Out wants to do and we are in continuing discussions with venue operators to ensure the event stays there into the future. Audience members should be confident that the BDO will return in January 2012.”
The potential change in venue has apparently been sparked by the council who run the stadium wanting more money for location hire and bar sales going forward.
