Ministry Of Folk Presents The Pipi Pickers, Dirt Road Orchestra And Hoop
The Ministry of Folk puts on awesome acoustic music from super-talented acts in a beautiful old hall halfway down Dominion Road.
We are excited to have three excellent five-piece bands lined up for your listening pleasure.
Firstly, we are delighted to have The Pipis Pickers who have become firm favourites at New Zealand and Australian music festivals. They play a vibrant blend of hard driving trad and contemporary bluegrass that puts a smile on everyone’s face. They even deliver murder ballads with a sense of joy and energy . Nat Torkington is New Zealand’s premier Scruggs-style banjo player and is ably supported by his father Barry on guitar, Garry Bigwood on mandolin, and wife Jenine Abarbanel on double bass and vocals.
The Dirt Road Orchestra is a five piece acoustic band that will regale you with songs that are historical, allegorical and mystical. All wrapped in melodies and poly-eccentric rhythms
Your host band Hoop will start the show as usual, so grab a table and settle in with some BYO drinks and snacks.
