The Sea Plus, A Crude Mechanical And Special Guests
Tour Information
On the occasion of the release of their live EP In Sea 01 and in preparation for the release of their new EP Andaman Sea later this year, The Sea Plus, Tāmaki Makaurau's pre-eminent (and perhaps only) improvisational oceancore duo, emerge for their first live show of 2024, supported by special guests A Crude Mechanical and - JUST ADDED! - Peter Hobbs.
Formed from the ashes of Climate Change - who recently released their first album, Pest Sounds, posthumously - guitarist Hamish Scott and drummer Doug Dillaman each added a collection of electronics to their weaponry and committed to spacious improvisations that draw from post-rock and ambient music. With live performances augmented by dreamy projections and no pre-ordained plan, every gig by The Sea Plus is guaranteed to be a unique experience.
A Crude Mechanical is the collected and semi organised noise of Shane Warbrooke (The Bemsha Swing, Climate Change). Using loopers, samplers, and a variety of physical and electrical guitar altering tools, mixed with electronic music production techniques, A Crude Mechanical shows are an improvised instrumental experience. FFO Shoegaze, experimental, indietronica, trip hop.
An active proponent of the Tāmaki Makaurau musical underground for the past two decades, Shane Warbrooke has always pushed back against the order of the day. Now he's delivering the ultimate mic drop by quite literally dropping the mic from his music. A Crude Mechanical is Warbrooke's one-man-band for the apocalypse era, a lone wolf instrumental orchestra-for-one inspired by watching the co-opting of revolutionary messaging by alt-right chumps, and realising - in his own words - there's no point in having lyrics anymore. - Flying Out
