Central Otago Regional Orchestra Presents - Swirling Winds!
info_outline This tour has been.
The Central Otago Regional Orchestra is back in action again!
After a chamber music foray in November last year when we performed in Alexandra, Wanaka and Bannockburn,
it is exciting to have a full complement of musicians to present a concert series at 7.30pm on
April 29th, at the Roxburgh Entertainment Centre. The programme includes some well-known favourites such as the Fidelio
Overture by Ludwig van Beethoven and two classic waltzes, the Blue Danube by Johann Strauss and Les Patineurs by Emile Waldteufel.
The piece de resistance, however, must be the opportunity to hear Nick Cornish, the Oboe
Principal in the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra playing Josef Fiala’s Oboe Concerto. Nick is
looking forward to the opportunity of playing this concerto with its exciting allegro, soothing
adagio and rousing rondo to end.
All of this music will be under the baton of Ashley Hopkins, who has worked with several
orchestras throughout New Zealand. Ashley has successfully guided the Central Otago
Regional Orchestra in programmes over the last few years and is looking forward to a
concert series without the COVID restrictions we have all faced in the last three years.
This is a musical opportunity not be missed.
