Listen: The Phoenix Foundation - Give Up Your Dreams
The Phoenix Foundation have unveiled the title-track from their forthcoming sixth album Give Up Your Dreams. The deceptively upbeat track is based on advice from Lawrence Arabia to TPF bandmembers Samuel Flynn Scott and to Luke Buda to give up their aspirations in order to enjoy making art, explains Scott.
According to the frontman, that piece of advice is the thematic string tying the album together. "The battle between the relentlessly enthusiastic rhythm section and the (on the surface) deadbeat lyric is what makes this record work for me," Scott says. "The track is like a the insane smile on the faces of beauty pageant contestants… Keep smiling keep smiling!". The release of the eponymous single follows afro-kraut inspired single 'Mountain', which was aired back in May. Give Up Your Dreams is due out 7th August, listen to the track below...
