Weekly Round Up: Friday 26th June
In tour news this week, we had English folk musician Laura Marling announcing her return to New Zealand with one show at Auckland venue The Powerstation in late October. Coming to New Zealand for the very first time is the one-and-only Madonna, who announced her first ever show on this soil for March next year. After having to cancel their tour last year, Toxic Holocaust has hooked up with a new promotor to come downunder and will be stopping off on these shores for one thrashy night in October. And Seattle electronic duo Odeza revealed two dates that will take them across Wellington and Auckland in September.
In release news, New Order revealed details of their first album in more than a decade, which is titled Music Complete and is due out late September. Also coming out of the woodwork is Slayer, who shared a shredding new single called 'Repentless' as they prepare to unleash their new album of the same name. And pop provocateur Peaches shared an amazing (and kinda NSFW) video for her new cut 'Light In Places'. In local release news, we heard from Christchurch group Brian Tamaki And The Kool Aid Kids, who dropped the excellent single 'Eating Glue' from their forthcoming EP. Wellington "sludgescape" group Opium Eater unveiled the epic offering Canis Major. And Auckland rock rascals Bloodbags premiered a new video for 'Talking Apes', which is being released on 7-inch vinyl today.
This week's Caught Live is a clip of Major Lazer and MØ performing Peace is the Mission single 'Lean On' in the flesh on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon...
