Live Photos: @Peace - Neck Of The Woods, Auckland
Last week experimental hip-hop outfit @peace announced that they were splitting up in a surprise announcement. In a simple statement on Facebook the group explained: "This gig on Friday will be our last. I don't think we need to say much more on the subject, we spent the last 3 projects talking about how everything eventually ends. You know how it is. Time to euthanise the group. Peace everybody". The post came ahead of their show at the recently opened Auckland venue Neck Of The Woods on Friday night, where they were supported by Chelsea Jade and Leonard Charles (aka Jeremy Toy of She's So Rad).
Forming in 2011 under the steam of Tom Scott and Lui Tuiasau, @peace eventually expanded into a larger project incorporating the talents of Christoph El' Truento, Hayden Dicky and Brandon Haru. Together they delivered three fantastic releases including their self-titled debut in 2011, then Girl Songs in 2013, followed by last year's phenomenally cosmic effort @Peace and the Plutonian Noise Symphony, a true high note in the group's short career that incorporated beautiful jazz tones and creative production alongside lyrical craftsmanship that set the group apart from their contemporaries.
Photographer Michael Pharaoh was at Neck Of The Woods on Friday evening to document the group's swansong, check out his great shots below...
