Weekly Round Up: Friday 5th September
We have a bit of a mixed genre bag for this week's tour news. In terms of international acts, October will see Hot Chocolate coming to New Zealand direct from London for two shows. Then in November, Australian bluesman C.W. Stoneking is crossing the Tasman for a five-date tour of the country. The same month will see Gomez frontman Ben Ottewell arrive in Auckland for a one-off performance. And, although not officially announced, it looks like hip hop duo Run The Jewels will return to the country in January. On the local tour front, September will see Auckland noise musician Kraus embark on a nationwide tour to support the release of his new album Interior Castle. Hip hop outfit @peace have a whole raft of dates lined up that will take them up and down the country during October. That same month will also see Mulholland perform a string of shows nationwide to celebrate the release of Stop And Start Again. And also in October, Sola Rosa will be playing three shows to mark the unveiling of new album Magnetics.
In release news, instrumental titans Kerretta are releasing their new album Pirohia today (you can stream it over here). Wellington romance-pop musician Lttle Phnx shared shimmering new single 'Ethiopian Opal' ahead of the release of her new EP Pyrexia on Monday. Sound artist Noel Meek gave a sneak peek at his track from forthcoming compilation NoFi Rainbow Vol. 1, which is coming out next week through his newly formed label End Of The Alphabet Records. And five-piece folk act Eb & Sparrow shared the new video for 'Quietly We Tread', from their new self-titled album out today. From our friends overseas, you can stream the third album A New Nature from gothic trio Esben and the Witch, due out officially next week. Aphex Twin has shared his first new track in 13 years, in anticipation of the release of SYRO at the end of the month. And finally, Faith No More are also about to break their own dry spell, having just announced their first new album in 18 years will come out next April.
This week's Caught Live is the Fat White Family (pictured above) performing their recently released single 'I Am Mark E Smith' at the Rock En Seine open air festival in France...
