Listen: Anthonie Tonnon and Shenandoah Davis - The Operation (Charlotte Gainsbourgh Cover)
The seventh installment of the Attic Singles Club sees Auckland-based artist Anthonie Tonnon share his beautiful version of Charlotte Gainsbourgh's single 'The Operation'. The recording took place at the Attic's Dunedin studios and Tonnon is joined in duet by Seattle musician Shenandoah Davis, who was in the country on tour earlier this year. The cover is the B-side to Tonnon's live recording of original song 'Multiple Lives', the opening track for his 2012 album Up Here For Dancing. The single breaks Attic Singles Club tradition in that it was not recorded at the Dunedin, but the bare-bones version was laid down at the Columbia City Theatre, Seattle last May while Tonnon was touring through the States. Have a listen to 'The Operation' below and head over to Bandcamp to hear more...
Anthonie is playing on Friday 25th July at the Darkroom in Christchurch, and on Saturday 26th July at Meow in Wellington. The Wellington show will be opened by local duo Wet Wings, for the pair's last show before Darian heads to Oakland, California. The band just released excellent mini-album, Willow Peak on Lil’ Chief records.
