Mel Parsons Shares Single / Video ‘Post High Slide’ + Announces Release Tour

Mel Parsons achieved rarified career heights with her latest album Sabotage, which earned a finalist placing for the prestigious 2025 Taite Music Prize (winner yet to be revealed) and received praise from Rolling Stone for "some of her best songwriting to date". The Lyttelton-based songwriter now peers into her crystal orb, anticipating turbulent feelings on the horizon with bittersweet, jangle-pop knees-up 'Post High Slide'. Launched with accompanying live footage of Parsons and band supporting Aotearoa megastars Crowded House in late '24, 'Post High Slide' sets a rousing scene for the multi-award winning artist's single release tour, straddling both sides of the Tasman from 25th May onwards.

Playing local headline dates in Tāmaki Makaurau, Pōneke and her Ōtautahi hometown this autumn, Parsons opened up about how her song is inspired by (and inevitably feeds back into) the thrill of hitting stages night after night, as well as the back to everyday grind, post-tour comedown...

“I used to get post tour blues pretty bad. I’d come home and thump back down to earth after a sustained period of excitement and adventure. Touring is the daily adrenaline-shot of performing live, then the contrast of coming back to the reality of domestic life and the never-ending admin of being an indie artist".
