The Newz Reuniting For Two Christchurch Headline Shows
Released in 1980 via Hoghton "The Hustler" Hughes' Music World imprint — "Music you can afford to enjoy" — Heard The Newz is the first and only album to emerge from Christchurch's The Newz, who are reuniting later this year for a two headline dates at A Rolling Stone. Originally called Bon Marché, before a "long-established French department store of the same name" necessitated a name change, The Newz sported a diversity of angular influences (citing Talking Heads, Devo and The Clash) that should resonate well with today's post-punk / new wave-loving listeners. Check out the superb Byrne-esque mutant funk-pop of 'Accident Prone' and the spiralling Stranglers-y keys of 'Hole In My Heart', and save the date for The Newz, on 11th October plus a Sunday matinée gig on 12th October...

The Newz return in full swing to bring their classic hits back to Christchurch this October. The Newz make very contemporary, witty and stylish pop music, incorporating many influences, such as Talking Heads, Devo and much more. They were active on both the New Zealand and Australian pub circuit throughout 1980-1981, with them clocking up scores of gigs over that time. Catch them live at A Rolling Stone with a series of gigs.
