Special guest for Naarm-based lutriwita rap star Miss Kaninna's show at Te Whanganui-a-Tara's Valhalla on 21st March, MĀ's (Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu, Tūhoe) brand new single 'DECAY' is a collaboration with Oglala Lakota artist Mato Wayuhi, hailing from South Dakota. The pair weave indigenous perspectives "on home, land, and sea" together with a soul-jazz-funk blend of gritty club-bumping percussion, haunting taonga pūoro performed by Te Kahureremoa, mellifluous guitar / flute, and imploring backing vocals from Lila Crichton, AJA, Te Kahureremoa, and producer Leonardo Coghini.
Also moving the crowd at the capital's free, super-stacked CubaDupa festival at the tail end of March, smash play on the second single (only out on Bandcamp for now) revealed from MĀ's avidly awaited follow up to 2021's Breakfast With Hades, and keep ears peeled for more live dates...
