Spotlight: Alien Weaponry Touring Aotearoa in March with Shepherds Reign
Alien Weaponry have forged their own staunchly political form of te reo Māori thrash metal since emerging from Waipū in the early '10s, pulverising the ears of dedicated fans around the globe with back-to-back breakout albums Tū (2018) and Tangaroa (2021) via Napalm Records. Co-founding brothers Henry Te Reiwhati de Jong and Lewis Raharuhi de Jong (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Raukawa) with Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds (Ngāti Rārua, Ngāpuhi (Te Mahurehure), Ngātiwai, Ngāti Hine) on bass since 2020 will be unleashing their feverishly awaited third record Te Rā — the main deity of the heavens / sun, as well as the only known customary Māori sail in existence — on 28th March, preceded by a nationwide tour supported by Polynesian metal powerhouses Shepherds Reign.
Experience opening salvo singles 'Mau Moko' and '1000 Friends', preorder Te Rā HERE, and don't miss both titanic groups throwing down in Kirikiriroa, Ngāmotu, Tāmaki Makaurau, Ōtautahi, Tāhuna, plus at Pōneke's Homegrown festival. Grab yourself a fresh pair of earplugs and catch them from next Friday onwards...
