Erny Belle Shares Single / Video 'Boudoir' ft. Semisi Ma'ia'i
Erny Belle ambushes our hump day with a frisky new standalone single and video, ahead of this Saturday's early autumn headline gig at Leigh Sawmill Cafe. Expanding upon the Pacific-pop excursions found on the Aotearoa songwriter's universally praised second Flying Nun album Not Your Cupid (named the very Best New Zealand Album of 2023 by Rolling Stone Australia), 'Boudoir' finds Belle reunited with Semisi Ma'ia'i, who sang with her on Marlin's Dreaming's standout 'Earnestly' — returning the favour with resplendent sophisti-psych-bop arrangements, clacky vintage drum machine rhythms and imploring husky croon.
Produced / directed by Anna Brajkovich and made with support from NZ On Air, the love ballad's accompanying clip starring Wendy Olson, Dale Calder and Kevin Longley enthrals with secret domestic obsessions and suspicious eyes. Experience 'Boudoir' below and witness the majesty of Belle with full band this weekend...
"I wrote Boudoir with Semisi’s instrumental having already been written. I found the guitar line super sexy in a bizarre way, which naturally eventuated into a song about adoration and desire".
