It sure has been a sizzling hot seven days at UTR's Tāmaki Makaurau HQ. Turn back the wheels of time and revisit this week's news coverage of Yurt Party, Vanessa Worm, Pocket Money, Cameron McCurdy and Voom, read DISPLEASURE guitarist Ru's excellent interview with DEATHRO ahead of the Japanese BEATROCK artist's Aotearoa tour, and scroll downwards for more new / recent local release highlights from Lorina Harding, Aldous Harding, Sonya Waters, Body Of Work, Alien Weaponry, Deathnir, Haast Hunter, Lerm Werld producers djawesomechillguy25 & dishwasher, and Geoff Stahl's 33 1/3 Oceania book on The Clean's paradigm-shifting Boodle Boodle Boodle EP.

Are you an Aotearoa artist / imprint releasing something new soon? Let us know! Send your info including links to editor@undertheradar.co.nz.

Two-time winner of the Tūī Award for Best Folk Album, Lorina Harding's 1992 debut album Lucky Damn Woman today receives a lux vinyl LP reissue and remaster courtesy of Leather Jacket Records. You can order a copy via Flying Nun HERE and /or cop one in person at this Sunday's semi-secret house concert in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Grab tickets and further info HERE via UTR. No preview stream for the album is available, better nab the physical edition before they run out.

Lorina Harding is of course mother to Aotearoa songwriting luminary Aldous Harding. Now based abroad, the Taite Music Prize-winning Lyttelton artist contributes angelic folk vocals to Seattle art-pop superstar Perfume Genius' new epic 'No Front Teeth', and co-stars in the outré accompanying clip. "Perfume Genius has been part of me for well over 10 years now. So beautiful, so wretched I did need him from the moment I heard him. His connectedness FAR FAR ahead of me, something to strive for. One of the TRUE greats just standing there. Thank you for having us Mike, you have me, forever".

Performing at Tāmaki Makaurau's Audio Foundation on 14th March (get tickets HERE) alongside fellow sonic voyagers Rachel Shearer and Half Sister (Hermione Johnson, Gary Sullivan and Greta Anderson), Sonya Waters shared new six track suite of live recorded synthetic dreamscapes Vibrating Fields.

Sarah Illingworth's Body Of Work continues the march towards her project's Secondhand Blues EP with the unveiling of the title track, a woozy and pastoral dream-bop journey featuring instrumentation / production by none other than Shannon Fowler (Tom Lark).

Alien Weaponry's '1000 Friends' is a powerhouse new anthem from the Aotearoa metal trio's forthcoming third album Te Rā — out in full on 28th March via Napalm Records.

Kirikiriroa thrashers Deathnir embody primal metallic malevolence and face-smashing fury on their new ten track long player Where The Wicked Meet, exploding out the gates with the Aotearoa axe attack of 'Te Kiwi'.

Reuniting with Wānaka's Powder Chutes for two dates of their May album release tour (grab tickets HERE), Kirikiriroa's Haast Hunter evoke Shakespearean grandeur on maximally heavy riffing new anthem 'SPITE'.

Lerm Werld champions, djawesomechillguy25 and dishwasher gift dancers a four track lover letter to that most timelessly elegant of fonts (as represented by The Rialto cinema bathrooms) on their club-stonking papyrus EP. "Clubstravagonzo-journalism meets future-past superstardomised hard-softness. We call it music, you call it at 2:31 wondering where your ears have been. Brace yourself. It’s time to go to the dentist and take the crown".

I'm looking forward to finally nabbing a copy of Te Whanganui-a-Tara writer, DJ and Senior Lecturer in Media & Communication (at Te Herenga Waka / Victoria University of Wellington) Geoff Stahl's new critical appraisal of The Clean's landmark Boodle Boodle Boodle EP (1981), out now as part of the 33 1/3 Oceania series. Order it at your friendly local record / book store if they don't have it already — you can read an extract HERE.
