Tom Lark aka Shannon Fowler navigates the perpetually shifting sands of showbiz and drops more than a few home truths into the mix on 'Rock & Roll Baby', the latest single from his forthcoming second album Moonlight Hotel. Most likely alluding to his own astonishing journey in music, recently unpacked in Gareth Shute's profile for AudioCulture HERE, the Ōtautahi tunesmith delivers his highly relatable (for some) cautionary tale with Stonesy chug and R. Stevie Moore-worthy melodic panache. Washing up on life's rocky shoreline, Lark then circles right back in Möbius strip fashion to do it all over again.

I half expected the Rage logo to emerge in the corner of Lark's accompanying video, directed by Sports Team and made with support from NZ On Air. “Rock & Roll Baby is a tune about making peace with the cards you're dealt and poking fun at a losing hand. That’s rock & roll for you baby’ is a goofy slogan I like to tell myself to move through disappointments; it helps to remind me to find humour in some of the more crushing moments a musical nightlife can throw your way.

For me it's a philosophical fridge magnet to explain the goofy and weird world of music. Sometimes things don’t go your way at all, but every now and then these moments wobble along into something really special and you find yourself with some of the most wonderful people and that makes it all worth it — ‘that’s rock & roll for you baby’ becomes a celebration".
