Neive Strang Unveils Single / Video 'Gather Round' + Announces New Album

Ōtepoti songwriting sensation and member of Shayne P. Carter's touring Dimmer band, Neive Strang has over the past couple of years been dangling the carrot of a forthcoming album recorded with Taite Music Prize-winning producer Sean James Donnelly (SJD). Now sporting the Carroll-esque title Find Me in the Rabbit Hole, we are treated today to brand new single 'Gather Round' and an official release date for her first long player since 2020's Moon Life, out in the world on 4th April digitally and on limited vinyl LP via Strang's own independent label, Polly B Records.

First conceived in 2023, the gentle guitar strum of 'Gather Round' provides a luminous, cloud-like bed for Strang's stunning vocal talents, pondering the temptation to disengage from daily social hassles in favour of solitary domestic dream states. Directed by Donnelly, the song's intimate single-shot video mirrors this theme, capturing Strang snugged up in her duvet fortress. "I wrote this song during a time when I preferred my simple comforts and indulging in thought, choosing not to engage socially despite the pressure I felt — pressure that mostly came from within.

Although this isn’t a concept album, these songs were written over the course of a few years with the earliest in 2021 and the latest in 2024. The growth and healing I hear in these songs takes me from start to end every time. It has captured some of the most transformative years of my life, which can now be reflected on forever. It’s for me a very honest and raw album, and Sean Donnelly has handled it beautifully in the producing department. We are both very proud of it".
