O & The Mo Unveil New Album 'Make Way For The Sun' + Announce Release Tour
Wiggling their way into listeners' hearts with an immaculately grooving pair of lead singles, the time has come for O & The Mo to unfurl their first new album in five years Make Way For The Sun. An elegant marriage of sunbaked psych-folk / rock, balearic rhythms and a touch of Morricone-esque spaghetti western strut, feeling at times like an Antipodean rural cousin to Khruangbin's swoony Texan bop, Make Way For The Sun consistently keeps the bar elevated to the same level as previously released SRN favourites 'The High' and the luminous title tune. There's an element of playfulness threading through too, evident in the pivot from reverberant dream-pop to synth-disco boogie on 'All My Love', compelling this listener to envision the sun-dappled trees and poolside glamour of Burt Lancaster's warped 1968 classic The Swimmer.
Written and recorded in the pair's home studio, "a small hut tucked away in the serene Wakapuaka Valley," Olive Gallagher and Alvin Bartley will soon be venturing forth on an Australian release tour with deluxe five-piece band, deservedly celebrating their new record around Aotearoa and across the Tasman.
