US murder balladeer Amigo The Devil is so beloved in his homeland, the mayor of Austin, Texas officially proclaimed November 16 to be Amigo the Devil Day. The dark folk project of songwriter / guitarist / banjo player Danny Kiranos, Amigo The Devil unfurled his fourth studio record Yours Until the War is Over in early '24, thirteen haunting, impassioned and rawkus songs reminding this listener of a midnight crossroads encounter between Tom Waits and our own D.C. Maxwell — lauded by No Depression as "an album that is alternately fun and sad, sometimes in the same song." Heading back down under in August, Amigo The Devil will treat Aotearoa fans to a solo headline tour hitting Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch (his garden city debut) in the heart of winter, all brought to you by Destroy All Lines...
