HIGH ALTAR (Terror Of The Deep, Vor-stellen) Adoration Of The Mystic Lamb Tour Announced
HIGH ALTAR are Taipua Adams (Terror of the Deep, The Perms) and Brendan Moran (Vor-stellen, Hasselhoff Experiment, The Subliminals), introducing their new "neon jazz" project to Aotearoa gig-goers from next month onwards with their Adoration Of The Mystic Lamb Tour. Debuted at Whammy Markets last month, the duo have absolute ripper supports lined up for Tāmaki Makaurau, Pōneke, Ahuriri / Napier and Ōtepoti, including fellow open-eared supergroup O/PUS, the mystifying man-witch Double Ya D, and surf party animals Beach Balls — plus they'll be joining Japanese beatrock maverick DEATHRO for the Ōhinehou / Lyttelton leg of the tour. Take a leap into the sonic unknown with HIGH ALTAR, here's the official lowdown...
"HIGH ALTAR is a two piece semi-improv instrumental assemblage. Made up of Taipua Adams (Terror of the Deep, The Perms) and Brendan Moran (Hasselhoff Expt, Subliminals, etc), they play what they refer to as 'neon jazz'; lifted from the imaginings of Jello Biafra on the Dead Kennedys track 'This could be anywhere...', he vocalised 'no amount of neon jazz could hide the oozing vibe of death'.
Together as HIGH ALTAR they form an intense crackle of aural expression vis-a-vis a devotional offering of spectral sounds capable of evoking womblike warmth and cavernous dread.
Requiring only rhythm section components built on a bare-bones structure of electronic timbre, this potent audio tool of a personal liberation alights a crooked path across musical, religious and subcultural frontiers.
HIGH ALTAR embark on a quick sojourn through the country companioned with prismatic special guests".
