Now based in London, Aotearoa rising songwriter Molly Payton is smartly dodging the northern winter chill with a clutch of summer homecoming events celebrating her debut album YOYOTTA. Short for "You’re On Your Own This Time Again", the soaring and emotionally frank anthems expressed on YOYOTTA grapple with a tumultuous period in Payton's family life, written following the conviction and imprisonment of her father (who is now "out of prison and starting a new life"). Payton won't be alone for her Tāmaki Makaurau headline show at Double Whammy, toasting her breakout record and successes on the world stage so far — she "has recently toured Europe / UK, played iconic festivals Primavera, All Points East, Laneway and supported indie icon Alex G" — with band mates and openers Daffodils...

Indie alternative artist Molly Payton returns to her hometown, Auckland from the UK for a “January Summer”, among a string of shows to celebrate her debut album YOYOTTA. This will mark the first time Molly Payton is back in the country since the release of “YOYOTTA”. An album she made In a collection of friends studios after leaving her record label and figuring things out on her own. This has gifted us with her most raw, personal and best work yet.

On top of releasing her debut Album Molly has recently toured Europe / Uk, played iconic festivals Primavera, All Points East, Laneway and supported indie icon Alex G.

Equipped with an all star band, expect an array of dynamics and emotions, from heartfelt acoustic ballads to grungy overdriven anthems.
