Premiere: Grecco Romank Unveil Single / Animated Visualiser 'GoldCard'
Christmas has come early for all the little club goblins, as Grecco Romank have something very special indeed tucked inside the sooty recesses of their gift sack — a brand new single and collaboration with Aotearoa music video king Simon Ward! In sync with Mayor Wayne Brown himself, the "avant-dance troika" set their sights on the not at all reliable, bewildering maze that is Auckland's public transport system, barely reported on up until recently as presumably local journalists and politicians don't catch inner city buses? The trio project their minds through time on 'GoldCard', imagining "a future citizenry tormented by public transport that catalyses dementia — a future vision of a city vandalised by private equity to the extent that our psyches are all broken".
Grecco Romank's accompanying visualiser spins out from filmmaker Simon Ward's custom-made animated work premiered at last month's Kiriata Me Puoro - An Animation And Music Festival. A sizzling data-mulch of shirtless, paunchy money-grabs and footage of the group in action, the byte-sized clip is handily formatted for looping playback on your personal handheld device. Catch Grecco Romank whipping up a dancefloor inferno in the capital this summer at Gathering Shadows 2025 and crank 'GoldCard' on your next bus ride (the trains probably won't be running)...
