Lake South Corporation Xmas Party 2024 Announced
Most likely Pōneke's finest annual end-of-year office shindig, LAKE SOUTH™ MANAGEMENT invite fans of the electronic songwriting explorer to attend the Lake South Corporation Xmas Party on 14th December. There's apparently been some big organisational shakeups and tight-fisted austerity measures imposed over at Lake South HQ during the past few months — read the official corporate press statement and RSVP via snagging tickets below, even more details available via the link...
Founder and Head of Songwriting Lake South has been asked to stand down from the company that bears his name by incoming CEO Harmony Banks.
“It has been an honour and privilege to work at the Lake South Corporation for just over 10 years,” South revealed today. “I put my heart and soul into making records and touring with Lake South...that’s just not enough in the current economic climate”.
South has not responded to allegations that he will continue to operate as ‘Lake South band’ despite legal action being threatened by his former employers.
Banks and South disagreed over how the corporation should grow and what part, if any, art should play in that process. “Lake has done some fantastic mahi for the organisation...we wish him and his family well going forward. The corporation just feels like we need to pivot if we’re going to survive in a cost of living crisis,” Banks told reporters outside their Garrett St offices yesterday.
“Lake just let things get away on him. There was too much fluff. Too much talk about art and hope. When it comes down to it, we are a business that has customers who want to interact with us financially. Art is a ‘nice-to-have’ in this environment. People want a simple beat and maybe a few singing words. The new Lake South management will provide that at half the cost of the current administration.”
The Corporation also announced today that Head of Drums (Eddie Crawshaw), Head of Keys and Backing Vocals (Penelope Esplin) and Head of Bass (Theo Sekeris) have likewise been asked to stand down, effective immediately. Banks had previously stated that frontline staff would not be affected but he has disputed the importance of live drums, backing vocals and bass.
In another cost-cutting measure, the budget for the corporation’s annual xmas party has been slashed and workers are being forced to buy tickets to attend.
The party takes place on 14 December and will also be South’s final public appearance as head of the company. A spokesperson for the Union said members supported the founder and would make their views known at the event.
