The Phoenix Foundation Share New Single 'Whistling In The Darkness'
Te Whanganui-a-Tara icons The Phoenix Foundation stare directly into the eyeball of chaos on their nifty new single 'Whistling In The Darkness', recorded between Camp A Low Hum festival performances earlier this year with "7th Phoenician" Anita Clark (Motte). They address our present day reality's non-stop, intentionally divisive socio-political hellscape with lines like "A brand new shoe or genocide / The guilty parties party on / Splitting hairs from dusk till dawn." TPF help stave off paralytic dread with a jaunty melody and a spring in their step, treating us to the promised whistle during the tune's solitary final moments.
Not unlike a thematic cousin to Lawrence Arabia's similarly torched and hummable 'The Developed World', sing along with TPF's catchy new ballad of protest next month at Tāmaki Makaurau's Double Whammy and their hometown's Meow — with special guests Louisa Nicklin and Dream Chambers. Look forward to B-side 'Ritual Hex' out in December and nab tickets today...
