Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Announce Auckland 20th Anniversary Show
A defining project to emerge from the exuberant whirlwind of indie rock / post-punk and MP3 blog activity that was the early '00s, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will revisit songs from their 2004 self-titled album at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Tuning Fork on 11th November 2025 — in honour of the just-released 20th Anniversary Edition of their classic debut. Led by Alec Ounsworth and still going strong today, the Philadelphia-based ensemble wore their love for Talking Heads and Bowie proudly on their breakout, notably self-released first record, adored by taste-making bible of the era Pitchfork for giving "indie rock... a much-needed kick in the pants".
Out now digitally, with the lux limited vinyl LP edition releasing via CYHSY's own imprint in early '25, have a listen to the newly unveiled original version of 'Heavy Metal' and swoop on tickets to sing along with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah this time next year...

Press release:
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark self-titled debut album with a worldwide tour and an exclusive new reissue, all over 2025. A heady blend of leftfield pop and melodic, exuberant indie rock, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is unquestionably among the finest and most influential independent releases of the 2000s. The celebration officially gets underway with the premiere of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s original 2004 version of the fan favorite, “Heavy Metal”. The newly remixed and mastered track was recently discovered among the original project files and captures what Clap Your Hands Say Yeah founder and frontman Alec Ounsworth calls “a special moment in time – a young group of guys all piling into one hotel room to wake up and go to a real studio (!) to try to come up with something special just for the fun of it.”
Besides the digital anniversary release featuring “Heavy Metal”’s original version, a special deluxe reissue arrives on limited edition vinyl LP early 2025 on CYHSY’s own label via Secretly Distribution, defiantly independent home to over two decades of Alec Ounsworth’s music.
