Hallelujah Picassos Drop New Single 'Bring The Joy'
The fallout from last week's political rude awakening in the US continues, but thankfully Tāmaki Makaurau's mighty Hallelujah Picassos are here to lift our collective spirits with their new jam 'Bring The Joy'. Creators of last year's still-urgent 'Tax The Rich' and an exuberantly eclectic back catalogue threading through our timestream to the late eighties, the lineup of singer Roland Rorschach, Peter McLennan (author of Deepgrooves - A record label deep in the Pacific of bass, out on 18th November ), Darryn Harkness, and Drew McCormack confront our contemporary grimdark moment — "these are the days of struggle and strife / Sending shivers down your spine" — with a cheerful, infectious blend of sound system blasting low end, dubwise / dancehall tomfoolery, and imminent positive energy. Currently at work on their next long player, you can catch the Picassos this Saturday at Whammy Bar, playing the opening set at Tone Fest 2024...
