Listen To The Veils' Single 'O Fortune Teller'
Who could have accurately foretold this week's cursed political news cycle? Somber, yet expressing glimmers of hope for the future, 'O Fortune Teller' is the second single to emerge from Asphodels, the forthcoming seventh studio album from Aotearoa songwriter Finn Andrews' globally beloved The Veils, launching in full on 24th January via Banished From The Universe and V2 Records. "O fortune teller, don't tell me too much..." Andrews implores with minimal piano and wisp-like, ethereal atmospherics, the sonic setting growing from sparse solo intimacy to orchestral grandeur as his gothic ballad unfolds. Already announced to be performing with NZTrio at WOMAD Aotearoa 2025 this coming March, following headline dates in Europe and the UK, keep fingers crossed for The Veils' local release show news, preorder Asphodels HERE on vinyl LP and compact disc, and hit play below...
"I think this song is about the desire for knowledge of the future, but the fear of the weight of too much terrifying information. I imagine every songwriter has felt that their time on Earth was accompanied by uniquely glorious and horrific human activities, but surely this moment has to be up there? It’s a song about carrying a lot of fear and hope about the world around at the same time".
'O Fortune Teller' is out today on major streaming platforms.
