Playing Kerretta's Angelm album release show tonight at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Bar with Somme, noiseniks Swallow the Rat are back with a reimagined scorcher from their 2023 album South Locust. Rejigged by Guy Scoullar / Blue Sky Hex, 'ZZK (Blue Sky Hex Remix)' adds heightened colours to the original mix, creating an even more vivid trip for your ears. Seems like they've added some electronic elements and turned the gain up high, yet the vocals feel gentler, "going low" near the end. Tonight will notably be the Rats’ final live show with bassist / singer Stephen Horsley — who is "entering his "All Rig / No Gig" era, as a lonely and bitter sound engineer, cursing what might have been."
