The sip-sized moniker of Grammy-nominated electronic dance producer and DJ Maxwell Byrne, Meanjin / Brisbane's 1tbsp is heading our way to headline a pair of pre-Xmas ragers at Pōneke's b.space and Tāmaki Makaurau's Neck of The Woods. Also the driving force behind indie-pop project Golden Vessel (collaborator with the likes of recent visitor Mallrat and Aotearoa's BAYNK), Byrne just unleashed 1tbsp's second studio opus megacity1000 via Sumoclic, a future-friendly bundle of house / techno / reggaeton / Latin club imaginings, with guests including rising star Cherry Chola — garnering praise from Pitchfork for "conveying a particularly inspired sense of place". “Over the last year, whilst I've been feeling creatively inspired, I've also often been feeling quite overwhelmed by the state of the world. Sometimes those two feelings feel very at odds with each other. Also, as I've been touring in different cities, I've become fascinated with their different approaches to handle growth, climate change & gentrification.

megacity1000 is a concept dance album that acts as an advertisement for a fictional ultra-modern city that could miraculously solve all these problems."
