Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses) Touring New Zealand in March 2025
US alt-rock luminary Kristin Hersh will soon be back in Aotearoa following last year's sold out nationwide tour, playing headline dates in Auckland (at the central city's Tuning Fork and The Vic in Devonport), Christchurch and Wellington this coming March. A boundlessly productive artist, Hersh is beloved by fans for her pioneering releases with Throwing Muses from 1986 onwards, her own expansive solo oeuvre (twelve studio records and counting), work with noise rock power trio 50 Foot Wave, and as an author of six books so far (including rock memoirs Rat Girl and Don't Suck, Don't Die). Hersh's breakout 1994 debut solo album Hips and Makers (featuring bFM / Max TV hit 'Your Ghost' with Michael Stipe) has just received a lux 30th anniversary reissue from 4AD — she'll be treating attendees to "material from Hersh’s mesmerising solo and Throwing Muses catalogue."
Kristin Hersh will be joined for her Wellington event at Old St Pauls by rising Ugandan songwriter Jon Muq, here touring his debut album Flying Away (recorded with with The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach), who is also playing a headline date at Auckland's The Tuning Fork the night before. These will be very special shows indeed, read Lucia Taylor's ace interview with Hersh discussing her latest solo album Clear Pond Road HERE and don't muck about in securing your spot, tickets are on sale now...

Press release:
Kristin Hersh (USA) returns to Aotearoa New Zealand for four solo concerts in March 2025, following on from her sold out tour two years ago.
Fans can look forward to material from Hersh’s mesmerising solo and Throwing Muses catalogue – a songbook stretching from the ‘80s through to today.
The inimitable Kristin Hersh is a musician's musician, a songwriter's songwriter, and an innovator's innovator.
Her first band, Throwing Muses, began recording and playing out when they were just 14 years old and they're still going. Their 2020 critically acclaimed Sun Racket album was hailed as "a perfect record”, and their next album Moonlight Concessions will be released in 2025.
Hersh’s recent solo album Clear Pond Road album is a cinematic road trip; a series of personal vignettes from a fiercely independent auteur, sitting plush with layers of all-consuming strings and mellotron. It’s a watershed moment in a career overflowing with creative firsts and inspirational thinking; an elegant piece of personal reportage, a home movie caught in time.
