WOMAD Aotearoa 2025 Second Lineup Announced - 47SOUL, Etran de L’Aïr, Ana Carla Maza, Bala Desejo, The Beths + More
Revealed late last week while we were briefly out of office abroad, the second lineup of international and local acts performing at WOMAD Aotearoa 2025 elevates Ngāmotu / New Plymouth's music and arts extravaganza to a thrilling new level. Newly announced overseas guests include Palestinian Jordanian Shamstep trailblazers 47SOUL, Agadez (Niger) Saharan desert rock family band Etran de L’Aïr, Cuban composer / cellist / singer Ana Carla Maza, Latin Grammy award-winning Brazilian collective Bala Desejo, French blues-rock power trio Delgres, Balkan folk / rock / fusion ensemble Goran Bregović & His Wedding & Funeral Band, Indian sitar and tabla maestros Satish Vyas & U Rajesh, Scottish folk trio Talisk, and Adelaide string benders Ukulele Death Squad.
Local mega-talents hopping on the bill include Tāmaki Makaurau power-pop heroes The Beths, Aotearoa / Iraq rapper / producer phenomenon WHO SHOT SCOTT, interstellar funk collective Black Comet (featuring Laughton Kora) and Aotearoa / Iranian superstar CHAII. They're joining an already majestic lineup including Caribbean reggae star Queen Omega (Trinidad and Tobago), award-winning UK musician / producer / composer Nitin Sawhney, The Veils (led by Finn Andrews) performing with NZTrio, and Naarm / Melbourne folktronic collective Amaru Tribe. Following the success of its incredible first lineup in September, WOMAD Aotearoa has unveiled 13 new acts for the 2025 festival. This lineup transcends geographical and musical boundaries, bringing together artists from Aotearoa to Scotland, Brazil to Palestine, Cuba to Niger, blending traditional and contemporary sounds and ranging from classical to electronic and desert rock to folk. WOMAD Aotearoa once again brings together art and music, celebrating the world’s diverse cultures over three memorable days of excitement, discovery, joy, and unity.
Each unique performer brings a dynamic mix of global talent, promising a diverse and exciting festival experience at WOMAD Aotearoa, set to take place from March 14-16, 2025, at the renowned Brooklands Park and the Bowl of Brooklands in Ngāmotu (New Plymouth).
WOMAD Aotearoa remains committed to ensuring the festival’s continued success in New Plymouth, New Zealand. For the third consecutive year, ticket prices will remain steady, making the festival accessible to all.
