Since her 2022 self-titled debut album, Ōtautahi-based Franco-American songwriter Tess Liautaud continues to bloom on her new studio long player Blue Mind, embracing even bolder elements of alt-country and rock 'n' roll. Today also sees a video for the title track, co-written with Adam Hattaway and filmed by her brother Max Liautaud and Caleb McDonald in the picturesque Arthur’s Pass, finding solace in the healing powers of rest and music. Drawing inspiration from the late John Prine, Liautaud pays tribute to the US songwriting great in closer ‘Gold Digger’. Her full band of Jessie Shanks, Frankie Daly, Elmore Jones, Michael Kime, Max Liautaud and Hattaway feature in ‘The Way It’s Meant To Rain’. This flock of Canterbury tunesmiths are playing a release show at Space Academy this Saturday. There’s vinyl LP and compact disc bundles available with ticket presales, plus heaps of merch goodies on her Bandcamp to hoard like a dragon — a dragon that yearns not for gold but sapphires. Hike towards the oasis of Tess Liautaud's Blue Mind below...
