Los Chicos (Spain) Debut Auckland Headline Show Announced with RATSO

Chris Cudby / Monday 14th October, 2024 12:02PM

Spanish garage-soul-country-punks Los Chicos have been honing their amp-blowing craft for nearly 25 years, yet they're never made to Aotearoa... until this year! Dangling their forthcoming new album Never Is Too Much like a carrot on a stick for fun-loving rock 'n' roll maniacs, Los Chicos have announced their debut Aotearoa gig, ram-raiding the stage at Tāmaki Makaurau's mighty Whammy Bar on 6th November. Their claim as "the TRUE Kings Of The Party" is by no means hyperbole, Los Chicos' famously rowdy performance at Melbourne / Naarm's Boogie festival literally broke the stage after sixty party animals were invited to dance with the group. Joined by local special guests RATSO, you'd be nuts to miss the historic first ever NZ headline event starring Los Chicos this spring...

Press release:

Los Chicos, the TRUE Kings Of The Party, are back in the night with a stupendous new record that propels them to the next rhythm punk garage country rock and soul roll frontier!!

Their 8th LP, Never Is Too Much, is coming out just months before the band hits their 25th year blasting tunes and firing joy from stages all over the world.

The record, produced by the legendary Mike Mariconda (The Raunch Hands, New Bomb Turks, Cosmic Psychos, Powder Monkeys…) offers the best tunes and performances these five Spaniards have achieved in their whole history.

Full of guitars that mix pub-rock with the best tradition of Aussie high-energy, melodies that stick to your soul, a rhythm section to die for, and lyrics that work like a good 70s movie about friendship, coming of age, treason, and hope, this album drives you through the crossroads of life making you feel ALIVE.

In this music there are parties au-go-go and energetic after-hours joy, but also reflections about what it means to look back, to be left behind, to feel you’ve had enough.

All those concepts get connected, through Los Chicos absolutely unique style, to a feeling of hope that transpires in songs that take the hand of the listener swearing that there’s always a second chance.

Never Is Too Much grabs you by the neck and doesn’t let go, but the energy it bombs makes you feel ready to take on the world, as if you had a loyal friend by your side, giving you strength to face whatever comes your way, one more day.

Electrocuted by the sheer gratification obtained by achieving this feat on record, Los Chicos are coming to their home away from home, Australia for the 7th time, and New Zealand !!! as well !!!

After shocking crowds at Boogie festival (breaking one stage!), River Rocks and touring (twice!) with Radio Birdman, these five music junkies will join premium delights like The Hard-Ons, Private Function, The Meanies, and The New Christs, with a mission: launch their new tunes and have the biggest of the biggest parties on explosive concerts where they’ll take their audience higher, and higher… and higher!

These guys do not fail. Get ready to testify, join in, let loose, and SMILE. This is what REAL ROCK AND ROLL feels like.
