Current Joys Shares New Album 'East My Love'

Co-founder of Nevada jangle-punks Surf Curse — who put out much of their number one on TikTok-trending oeuvre via Danger Collective, also home to Aotearoa's D.C. Maxwell, P.H.F. and salvia palth — songwriter Nick Rattigan today unveils East My Love, the twelfth album from his solo project Current Joys. The latest in a prolific streak of releases including the two-part LOVE + POP (featuring collabs with Lil Yachty, Lala Lala, Slow Hollows and more), East My Love was in fact written in solitude during 2020 whilst hunkering down "in the woods" in Tennessee, put aside for a two years due to the personal emotional intensity of the material, then laid down in the studio with Andrew Sarlo. The resultant record is like a 180 degree tonal curveball from the crunchy club bangers of LOVE + POP, yet demonstrating the same mastery of towering emo-pop hooks, leaning hard into lush Americana / alt-country instrumentation and tender-hearted earnestness.

Crafted for listeners as "a solace from any anxieties or depressions," East My Love bundles lead singles 'California Rain', 'Lullaby for the lost' and 'They Shoot Horses' with nine rustically-tinted new ballads — unleashing fiery rock energy on 'Sister Christian', and wrapping up with an uplifting acoustic spin on 'Feelin' Groovy' by Simon & Garfunkel.
