Ratbag Unveils Lyric Video For New Single 'Pinky Girl'

Achieving supernova success in the online realm with 2023's debut why aren’t you laughing? EP, Tāmaki Makaurau's ratbag is treating fans to a super-rare hometown headline show at Whammy Bar on 23rd October. The feverishly creative alt-pop star's new anthem 'pinky girl' completes a audio-visual diptych with August's 'pinky boy' — complimented by a stylish cartoony lyric clip animated by Ally Baston and Beatrice Robinson, and edited by Taylor Malmo. Catching the artist in a more reflective mode, pondering those oblivious, block of wood-like "pinky boys" in our collective lives, hit play on 'pinky girl' and go see ratbag before she blows up even further...

"i wrote both pinky boy and pinky girl simultaneously. the lyrics are inspired by a jumble of personal experiences, (mostly just being a woman and simply witnessing the male species in the wild.) i wanted to write two songs that spoke to eachother, even argued, in some kind of weird way. and what better opportunity than to talk through the eyes of pinky girl and pinky boy. i meet too many girls that are overwhelmingly cooler, more interesting and hotter than their boyfriends. i also meet too many men who do the absolute bare minimum and call it a day. not to mention their complete oblivion for the incredible woman they’re dating. pinky boys, be more like pinky girls."
