Watch Pocket Money's Video For New Single 'Anxious Brain'
Tight-knit Tāmaki Makaurau trio Pocket Money have shared their thought-provoking new single 'Anxious Brain' — the first release off their upcoming sophomore record scheduled for November. The track sheds light on mental health, aiming to normalise conversation around anxiety and the harder feelings we can often keep under wraps. What singer / bassist Chris Marshall articulates as a "fast-paced mind race" is translated skilfully into sound. A gut-wrenching chorus kicks into high gain gear momentarily, sonically matching the spike of panic that can easily set in during anxious times, while Iara Gelpi directs a colourful lightshow of a performance video.
This very evening, Pocket Money are playing an all ages show at NiceGoblins HQ along Auckland's vibrant Dominion Road, with singer / guitarist and director of Wāhine In Jazz Na'amah Cheiban, plus folk / indie rock artist Ben Chavasse tucked in pocket. Although the band are highlighting the unsettling “short breath” moments of anxiety, they themselves are a fresh breath of power-pop air…
