APRA Silver Scroll Award and Maioha Award - 2024 Finalists Announced

The top five finalists have been revealed by APRA AMCOS for Aotearoa's prestigious songwriting accolade, the 2024 APRA Silver Scroll Award | Kaitito Kaiaka, along with the top three finalists for the 2024 APRA Maioha Award | Tohu Maioha — recognising "the art of contemporary Māori music, honouring songwriters who are the telling stories of te ao Māori". Notably, pop superstar Stan Walker (Tuhoe, Ngai TeRangi, Ngati Ranginui, Ngati Pukenga, Tuhourangi Ngati Wahiao, Ngati Porou, Ngati Whakaue and Ngai Tahu)) is represented with waiata in both categories. As voted for by APRA member peers from July's shortlists, the winners will be named at at the sure to be glitzy APRA Silver Scroll Awards ceremony at St James Theatre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara on 8th October.

Also presented on the night will be the SOUNZ Contemporary Award | Te Tohu Auaha, APRA Best Original Music in a Feature Film Award | Tohu Pūmanawa, APRA Best Original Music in a Series Award | Tohu Paerangi, and a tribute to 2024 Te Whare Taonga Puoro O Aotearoa | NZ Music Hall of Fame inductee Mike Nock. Songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Ben Lemi (TrinityRoots, Dawn Diver, French For Rabbits) is stepping to the role of 2024 Silver Scroll Music Director, we're looking forward to his specially curated programme of new live versions of finalists' works and more.
