Chris Cudby / Tuesday 3rd September, 2024 9:46AM

Citing songwriting figureheads Elliott Smith, Bob Dylan, Laura Marling and Fleet Foxes as key influences on his own multi award-winning work, Prateek Kuhad has already achieved superstar status in his homeland of India and the rest of the world is rapidly catching up. Currently in the midst of his massive 48 date Silhouettes World Tour, Kuhad touches down in Aotearoa this spring for a can't miss headline show at Auckland's Studio The Venue.

Prateek Kuhad's milestones on the global stage are many and ever-growing. His breakout 2018 hit 'cold / mess' became one of the most streamed songs on Spotify India and was notably featured on Barack Obama's Favorite Music playlist (which has also famously included NZ's The Beths). Reaching a huge audience during the lockdown era with 2020's hit 'Kasoor' sung in Hindi, Kuhad arrives hot on the heels of his 2022 second album The Way That Lovers Do — featuring anthem 'Co2' — and new collaborative singles 'No Complaints' and 'Just Like A Movie' with GRAMMY-nominated producer Gregg Wattenberg. Fans can look forward to live previews of even more new tunes to come from the Jaipur singer / multi-instrumentalist at next Thursday's one-off event, secure your spot while you can...

Press release:

Praised by Rolling Stone India as “one of the country’s leading singer-songwriters”, pop musician PRATEEK KUHAD has announced the Silhouettes Tour, in Australia and New Zealand with a debut date in Sydney this September.

Hailed by Austin Monthly as “a certifiable international sensation” and by Rolling Stone India as “one of the country’s leading singer-songwriters,” Prateek Kuhad has garnered a slew of accolades and honors around the globe with his mesmerizing, cinematic songwriting.

In 2018, Kuhad’s breakout EP, cold/mess, debuted at #1 on Spotify India and he became one of the platform’s most-streamed artists. The EP wasn’t just a success domestically - Barack Obama added the track to his coveted “Favorite Music of 2019” list, and international media quickly took note of what millions of listeners around the world already knew. Rave reviews followed Kuhad everywhere he went: US Weekly praised his music as “beautifully haunting,” and Brooklyn Vegan celebrated his “angelic vocals.” Billboard said, Kuhad has progressed from playing auditoriums to headlining festivals attended by tens of thousands...described as 'Simon and Garfunkel by way of Damien Rice.'

On the heels of cold/mess, Kuhad released Hindi single Kasoor” in 2020, which became the first independently released track in India to reach #1 on Apple Music's all-genre chart and Top 100 India Chart. In 2022 he released his second full-length album, The Way That Lovers Do, on Elektra Records followed by a Deluxe version of the album.

This year, Kuhad has given us glimpses of what’s to come with singles, “No Complaints” and “Just Like A Movie,” the latter of which was co-written and produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Gregg Wattenberg. Kuhad is previewing more new music for fans around the world on the Silhouettes Tour, including Auckland!
