It may be more than twenty years between recorded outings from Zed, yet the Aotearoa hitmakers sound positively reenergised on their brand new album Future Memory. They reunited with producer Nic Manders for their third official long player, initially sparked by their reunion in 2017 to play 'Renegade Fighter' for 50,000 All Blacks fans at Eden Park, then forged by jam sessions, studio alchemy, and live performances into the songs we hear today.

Zed's knack for huge singalong hooks hasn't diminished one iota, this time often in tandem with supple funk-pop grooves recalling to these ears The 1975 (as heard on recent single 'Kings and Queens') and brisk punky energy (for example 'Running') looping right back to the group's rambunctious Canterbury roots. A sonically diverse playful streak is on display, opener 'Future Me' even tips its hat to robot rockers Daft Punk, while bookend closer 'Embers' ventures into shimmering oceanic realms of instrumental post-rock.
