AW (Andrew Wilson) Debut Show Announced with O/PUS

Reigning the SRN Top Ten with noisy and nimble single 'ONE BLAH NIGHT' from Andrew Wilson aka AW's scene-setting debut SIMPLE SONGS EP, the Die! Die! Die! frontman has announced his new project's first live outing will be at Tāmaki Makaurau's Cupid Bar on 31st August. Provoked by injury to explore sleeker sonic territory than Wilson's veteran post-punk project (whose scorching 2021 album This Is Not An Island Anymore may be a career high point), AW will be supported by O/PUS (pronounced oops) — the super-collective of Jade Farley, Ducklingmonster, Liz Mathews and Stefan Neville, who drummed on SIMPLE SONGS. The AW band also features drummer Kim Martinengo and bassist Morgan Leary, head along to Point Chevalier and look forward to fresh songs galore...

"After an injury left him unable to stalk the stage with the same energy as he was used to when fronting Die! Die! Die!, Andrew Wilson took the chance to slow down and write some songs on his own. Teaming up with Stefan Neville (Pumice), he recorded the three tunes on reel-to-reel 8-track that would become the 'Simple Songs' EP, quietly releasing it under the name AW in May.

Stripped back, pure and impure, soft and noisy, this are songs for the sake of songs".
